Eastside Pride Law Enforcement Position Statement

We stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community and all marginalized groups, especially the BIPOC community. We denounce past and ongoing inequitable treatment by law enforcement.

Eastside Pride PNW will work for change across a wide range of existing systems. This includes working with city governments, schools, community groups, religious groups, first responders, and law enforcement to move those organizations together towards greater understanding of the need for equitable treatment of LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized groups. Our efforts are primarily directed at existing systems to make positive, incremental change in parallel with other groups that drive for significant systemic changes.

Within the LGBTQIA+ community, we recognize the complex and differing feelings and perspectives that our members hold towards law enforcement. Where we are responsible for event execution, we will lean in favor of our LGBTQIA+ community's need for safe spaces within public safety requirements.
